I.

There is something about being
in a small room alone.

There is something else about being in a
large room with someone else.

I want to start at your toes
and never see you again.

This is all I own,
one ring on my right hand and
a couple cups of coffee.

II.

I want to know
what I am doing
is only adding to the light
on a subject,

or, of the dust on the wooden floor
dances within me,
only settling when it wants to.

III.

If I sit here
long enough
to watch my shadow
go to bed.

If I read a book.
If I never said.

I will never believe in regret or waste.
The glass is just another day.

IV.

There are good days
and bad, they say,

but I don’t hear anything
except one earbud in my ear
playing

for all the flowers on the earth.
